Day 1 – Arrival Paro (2250m) – Thimphu (2350m)
Arrive at Paro International Airport by Druk Air, Bhutan’s national carrier. Enjoy a spectacular Himalayan flight with breathtaking views of the world’s highest mountains. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by fresh mountain air and our representative. After visa and customs formalities, visit Rinpung Dzong, built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. Then drive to Thimphu following the Pa Chhu River. In Thimphu visit:
  • Buddha Dordenma for panoramic valley views
  • Takin Preserve to see Bhutan’s national animal
  • Tashichoe Dzong – seat of the Bhutanese government
  • Memorial Chorten
  • Centenary Farmers Market

Day 2 – Thimphu – Punakha (1310m)
After breakfast drive to Punakha via Dochula Pass (3140m), one of Bhutan’s most scenic mountain passes offering spectacular views of the Eastern Himalayas. Continue descending through lush forests into the fertile Punakha valley. Later hike through rice fields to visit Chimmi Lhakhang, the temple of Drukpa Kuenley, famously known as the “Divine Madman”. The temple is a pilgrimage site for couples seeking blessings for fertility.

Day 3 – Punakha – Gangtey (Phobjikha Valley)
Drive to Gangtey via Wangdue Phodrang. The road climbs through beautiful oak and rhododendron forests before reaching the stunning glacial valley of Phobjikha. This valley is the winter home of the rare Black-Necked Cranes migrating from Tibet. Enjoy the scenic Gangtey Nature Trail, a peaceful walk from Gangtey Monastery through forests and open valley landscapes.

Day 4 – Gangtey – Thimphu
Drive back toward Punakha and visit the beautiful hilltop nunnery Sangchen Dorji Lhundrup Chholing. The temple is dedicated to Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion. Meet resident nuns and explore the peaceful surroundings. Continue driving back to Thimphu via Dochula Pass.

Day 5 – Thimphu – Haa Valley – Paro
Drive over Chelela Pass (3899m), the highest motorable pass in Bhutan offering magnificent Himalayan views. Continue to explore the remote and beautiful Haa Valley, opened to tourists only in 2002. Visit:
  • Wangchucklo Dzong
  • Lhakhang Karpo (White Temple)
  • Lhakhang Nakpo (Black Temple)
Later drive to Paro.

Day 6 – Paro – Tiger’s Nest Monastery Hike
Today hike to Bhutan’s most iconic landmark, Taktsang Monastery (Tiger’s Nest), perched dramatically on a cliff at 3120m. Legend says Guru Padmasambhava flew here on the back of a tigress in the 8th century. After visiting the monastery, hike back and later visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples.

Day 7 – Departure from Paro
After breakfast transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward flight. Say goodbye to the mystical Himalayan kingdom.
